Oak View debuts movemindfully schoolwide this year, with promising success

OCTOBER 7, 2024 | OSSEO AREA SCHOOLS | ISD 279

In the couple of years leading back to normalcy after the COVID-19 pandemic, one of Oak View Elementary School’s behavior interventionist ESPs, Stephanie Halverson, said more kids were coming into the school’s intervention room feeling emotionally dysregulated. After attending a metro-area mental health conference for educators, Halverson learned about movemindfully, an approach that seeks to help people support themselves in regulating emotions.

Inspired to try it in her own room, Halverson started out by using movemindfully techniques with just two of her students last school year.
