Introduction to Mindfulness, Movement, and
Social-Emotional Learning: Getting Started

Public mental health concerns caused by toxic stress and trauma necessitate a new approach to education. Discover the power of mind-body strategies to address the impact of trauma on student learning while supporting adult stress management and self-care. Integrating the latest research in neuroscience, participants will experience practical mind-body interventions to assist students with self-regulation, focus, de-escalation, and community connection. Through experience, reflection, and discussion explore accessible Breathe Move Rest practices and social-emotional skill-building activities using simple visuals (Permission to Pause Posters) to co-regulate throughout the day.

Mindful Spaces

We know that higher level brain function (listening, learning, making good choices) is compromised when we are dysregulated. Creating safe spaces that incorporate Breathe Move Rest practices allows youth and adults to ease stress/distress, high energy, and big emotions that limit their ability to engage. Mindful Spaces start with YOU. In this session, you will experience movemindfully’s trauma-responsive mind-body practices both for yourself and the communities you serve. Creating a sense of safety for ourselves, and the children/youth and families we work with, maximizes the ability to listen, learn, and make good choices. Leave this session with key mind-body strategies to regulate your own nervous system so that you can embody safety in your work. In addition, create a Mindful Space plan for your setting whether totally new or integrated into your existing calming or peace corner, safe place, or regulation-station.

Safe to Engage

Learn how to create a sense of safety in the mind and body to address stress, distress, and trauma in educational, therapeutic, and home environments. Drawing upon an understanding of brain function and how the vagus nerve can counterbalance the flight, fight freeze response, discover the importance of using mind-body practices to create feelings of safety. Explore simple mind-body practices that foster a sense of safety so that children and youth can connect and engage. Leave this session with essential practices to regulate your own nervous system so that you can provide a safe regulating presence for the children and youth you serve. Create a simple toolkit to use with clients/students to develop their own go-to Breathe Move Rest strategies to support their physical, emotional, and mental health.

QPR®: A Mind-Body Approach to Suicide Prevention

During this workshop participants will learn how to ask the difficult and uncomfortable questions to those at risk, while integrating movemindfully trauma-responsive Breathe Move Rest practices. With the increase of suicide, especially among teens, awareness of the frequency and seriousness of death by suicide is a first step. Build more support into your suicide prevention education by pairing evidence-based tools for assessing suicide risk (and referral) with mind-body practices.

Discover simple mind-body strategies that can help manage energy levels, improve brain function, and support the overall well-being of elders, their caregivers, and families. These practices are intended to manage stress/anxiety, improve mood, and enhance sleep while helping participants feel more present and connected. Mind-body practices can help elders feel more awake, reset as needed during the day, and get ready for a good night’s sleep. By sharing these strategies with elders and their caregivers, we support physical, emotional, and mental health.

Stress Management Workshop

The stress of our work takes its toll, impacting overall health and well-being. Relief is possible with simple mind-body stress-management/self-care practices to reduce stress, relieve exhaustion, and prevent ultimate burnout. Introduction to movemindfully
Early Education Workshop (Develop Approved)

Participants enhance their understanding of the impact of trauma and stress on both young children and adults. During this workshop participants develop practical, research-based interventions to assist young children with self-regulation, self-soothing, community connection, and overall well-being. Through hands-on learning, reflection and discussion (both large and small group) participants learn Breathe Move Rest techniques and social-emotional skill development activities to incorporate into daycare, preschool, pre-K, Head Start, and ESCE environments.
