I Am Safe Training Recap:

Our I Am Safe training on June 25 was an inspiring and energizing community event, rooted in advancing public mental health advocacy and activism—both professionally and personally. Grounded in neuroscience, the I Am Safe framework for self-regulation and practical mind-body coping skills set the tone for an engaging and collaborative day.

This full-day experience provided ongoing conversation around the science of the mind-body connection with opportunities to move and practice the strategies throughout. One participant shared, “I usually blank out—and today I was all in. That never happens.”

Introducing the seven I Am Safe trauma-responsive teaching tips—including Tip 1: Seeing and Accepting Participants Just as They Are—was described as “welcoming, engaging, and informative,” and offered “relevant information to bring back right away.” The collective learning not only supported each participant’s growth, but also deeply enriched the day for us as facilitators.

Additional insights from participants affirm how “we all benefit when we integrate simple mind-body practices into our personal and professional lives.”

Available for all ages

It provided me with relevant information that I’m able to bring back to staff at my workplace to implement in various programs like case management, ECFE, and after school youth programming. I LOVED that it was relevant for ALL ages because I serve infants to elders.”

Accessible, practical approach to self-care

It is important to learn some tools for mind-body regulation and the why of how they work so that you can get buy-in and build self-efficacy with clients.”

Science-backed strategies–for students, clients, and staff

It felt validating to know that there is science behind the things I’m already using.”

Inclusive and accessible for all abilities

This training equips people of all ages and abilities to learn and practice practical self-regulation skills. An essential life skill many of us were not taught growing up. Take this information – share it with those in all your different circles!”
