When’s the right time to practice mindfulness?

We talk a lot about doing things with “intention” and “making time to take care of yourself”. As adults working with youth, we know that bringing mindfulness practices into the day is immensely helpful with real benefits. But finding the time and knowing what to do can be an obstacle in really making this a regular practice.

It can be as simple as picking 2-3 times a day where you will devote a few minutes to mindfulness. Here are a few simple ideas:

Choose one of these moves to try during your selected times. For teachers, at the start of the day, after recess, and before school lets out are all great times. Consistency is the important part, so don’t go in with too lofty of a plan. You can always add more once you’ve established your routine.
